The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has created an online certification course for educators that want to effectively teach their students about communism’s brutal past and its deadly legacy. The course consists of 24 hours of professional development credit across 8 modules covering key topics like Communism 101, Leninism, Stalinism, Marxism, Totalitarianism, Dissent, and the Cold War.
In each course module, you will find video lectures, helpful summaries, and knowledge checks on the module material. Teachers can use the course lectures to build their classes and lesson plans.
VOC’s certification course was created by a group of talented professors and educators including Dr. Elizabeth Spalding, Dr. Jonathan Pidluzny, Dr. Flagg Taylor, Dr. Gregory McBrayer, and Katy Feeney. The course is built on their years of expertise studying the legacy of communism and totalitarianism, as well as crafting effective pedagogy in their classrooms.
